Gururaj “Desh” Deshpande is president and chairman of Sparta Group LLC. Deshpande founded Cascade Communications and cofounded Sycamore Networks. He is a life-member of the MIT Corporation and a trustee of the Deshpande Foundation, which supports social entrepreneurship and provided the founding grant for the Deshpande Center at MIT.
Deshpande holds a B. Tech. from IIT Madras, an M.E. from the University of New Brunswick, Canada, and a Ph.D. from Queens University, Canada.
